Concepts and Terminology Review

In this lesson, we described some of the cornerstones of Microsoft Dynamics CRM 4.0. Microsoft Dynamics CRM 4.0 is a powerful and flexible customer relationship management system. It includes modules that provide tools or use by sales, marketing, and service units. These modules work together to store information in a centralized location and make it accessible and usable by people throughout your organization.
The application is built upon a database, which stores information in various types of records, called entities. Each entity contains specific records or instances that hold the information about an item, such as a specific contact or account. Records are, in turn, made up of fields, which are discrete pieces of information, such as last name or phone number. Records can be related to one another, for instance in a hierarchy to indicate that one account is the parent of another account.
